Playing Card

This was designed in Illustrator. I chose to go dark with this assignment and picked my skull queen from the thumbnails I drew. I thought spades would fit in with her evil look. I used a Dingbat font for the spade, then created outlines and manipulated it, plus added
bat wings.
I used a capital “Q” from the Luminari font, and created outlines and manipulated it to fit the theme of the card.
I got a picture of a skull, a dragon wing, a side view of a female body, and made them into templates. I used the Pen Tools to trace the templates, and added in shades, a gradient,
and lots of cracks and hatch marks.
Surprisingly, her hair took a lot longer than expected. It took a lot of messing with the Pen Tool to make her hair look wavy and flowing.
I did her clothes separate from the body so I can make it look sheer to see through to her body underneath. I used a pattern from the Vonster Patterns. I used the same pattern for the crown, except I changed it from see through to black.
After I reflected the top part to create the bottom part of the card, I connected the two by adding more material to her dress. So, it looks like as she is leaning forward her thigh is up in a running position.
